Asha Sharma as Xbox CEO
In her opening statement as the CEO, Asha pledged three core commitments as her priority "great games", "the return of Xbox" and the "future of play". She has also defied the overuse of artificial intelligence in the development of games, citing, "Games are and always will be art, crafted by humans and created with the most innovative technology provided by us.".
Asha said, "To meet the moment, we will invent new business models and new ways to play by leaning into what we already have: iconic teams, characters and worlds that people love. But we will not treat those worlds as static IP to milk and monetise. We will build a shared platform and tools that empower developers and players to create and share their own stories."
She affirmed to upheld the truthfulness in game developing and building such business models which would empower the developers as well as the players.
Who Is Asha Sharma?
Asha is experienced in product development and four years at Microsoft, but does not hold any experience in the gaming sector. What's next will be suprising, as Microsoft has appointed someone who comes from a business background and it will be shocking to see how business combines with such technical atmosphere.
Concluding her statement, Asha said, "The next 25 years belong to the teams who dare to build something surprising, something no one else is willing to try, and have the patience to see it through. We have done this before and I am here to help us do it again."
She added, "I want to return to the renegade spirit that built Xbox in the first place. It will require us to relentlessly question everything, revisit processes, protect what works and be brave enough to change what does not."
Her focus on the next 25 years shows that she is thinking about long term success and not quick results. She also suggests that Xbox should try new and different ideas and build its market again. For which, she says that the team will be looking carefully and strategically towards the processes and build plans that work.
