The kingdom of Saudi Arabia is known popularly for its harsh rules and regulations for women, but recently the country has taken a lot of steps towards promoting women's empowerment and offered them good opportunities to grow. One such step was taken by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman who had the vision to enhance the position of women in the country.

5 women ambassadors of Saudi Arabia

1. Princess Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud

Princess, Reema Bint Bandar Al Saud is the first female brand ambassador of Saudi Arabia who was appointed by Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2019 as the ambassador to the United States. She earlier worked as the deputy of planning and development for the Saudi General Sports Authority and also as the authority’s vice president of women’s affairs. According to reports, she also served as the President of the Mass Participation Federation and was the first female to lead a multi-sports federation in the Kingdom. All her life, she has been an advocate for women's rights and empowerment and is popularly known for her strong opinions regarding the same.

2. Inas al-Shahwan

Inas al-Shahwan was appointed as the ambassador for Saudi Arabia to Sweden and Ireland in the year 2021. She holds the emerging leadership program certificate from Harvard University as well as a Master's degree in the subject of international relations from an Australian university. She was the first woman ambassador from the diplomatic corps after she joined the Ministry of foreign affairs in 2007. Reportedly she also served as an advisor to the deputy foreign ministers for political affairs. Al Shawhan was also the first female to hold the position of department manager in the foreign ministry department of political and economic affairs.

3. Haifa al-Jadea

She was appointed as the ambassador and the head of Saudi’s mission to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community on 3rd January 2023. She has 2 master’s degrees one in international relations from Syracuse University and the other one in conflict resolution and negotiation from the university of Colombia. Furthermore, she previously worked at the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center and also represented the Kingdom at the UN Security Council. Not only that, but reports say she also supervised the General Department of International Relations at the Ministry of Tourism. Al-Jadea is also one of the eight executive team members of the Saudi Research and Media Group and was also the CEO of SMRG Think.

4. Amal Yahya al-Moallimi

Amal Yahya was appointed as the ambassador of Saudi Arabia in 2022 to Norway. She has a bachelor's degree in the English language from the university of Nora bint Abdul Rahman. She also has a master’s degree in mass communication from Denver University. Likewise, she held the position of the Director General of Organizations and International Cooperation at the Saudi Human Rights Commission in the year 2019. According to reports, she worked as Assistant Secretary-General at Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue.

5. Nisreen al-Shibel

Nisreen bint Hamad al-Shibel got appointed as the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Finland recently on January 3rd, 2023. She took the oath for the position in the presence of King Salman bin Abdulaziz. After which she thanked the king via Twitter, post, which reportedly said, "I extend my thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Highness the Crown Prince - may God protect them - for the generous trust. I pray to the Almighty that I fulfill their expectations and to help me perform my work to the fullest extent. I also thank His Highness the Minister of Foreign Affairs for his support of the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
