Who Is Sarabjit Kaur: On January 8, Sarabjit Kaur was elected as the mayor of Chandigarh by its Municipal Corporation house. Out of 36 members of the Municipal Corporation house, only 28 votes were cast as Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) refrained from voting. Kaur, who is affiliated to the Bharatiya Janata Party, won by 14 votes and became the mayor of Chandigarh.
