Who is Reba Monica John: If you are thinking Ratnam Prapancha is Reba Monica John's first Kannada film, then you are wrong. She debuted with Sakalakala Vallabha, directed by Jacob Verghese. The actor, whose upcoming project's Rathnan Prapancha trailer is out today. She is also well-established in the Tamil and Malayalam film industries.

The 27-year-old actor's turning point was her film, Bigil, the Tamil sports drama, where she played the role of an acid attack survivor Anitha. The scene where she faces the perpetrator in the film stuck with the audience for a long time since its release in 2019. The actor's performance was applauded and since then there has been no looking back for her.
The Bengaluru-bred Malayali actor made her Kannada debut very recently. Previously, she has also worked in the Tamil film industry. Her debut Kannada film, Sakalakala Vallabha was a remake of a Tamil film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. The Tamil film is also the actor's favourite film.
"Irrespective of the language I speak at home, I am glad to establish myself in three different regions," said Reba in an interview with the Cinema Express.
The actor considers her performance in Bigil as life-changing, considering the reach of the film due to Vijay's involvement (who was the lead character). She was sceptical to act in the film at first but later when the character was a hit amidst the masses, it became overwhelming for her. People started recognising her, she said to The News Minute in an interview.
In the same interview, she also said that many women in a similar situation were inspired by the character. She came across a comment by a mother who has been facing domestic violence for few years and after watching the film she was motivated to take her child and leave the house.

When it comes to roles, she does not like playing lead just for the sake of it and definitely wants to play powerful roles. She wants to be part of films where women can do things that are often assigned to just heroes. She wants to play characters with strong traits.
She also feels that actors like Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu are changing things for women actors in the industry and feels now is the time when the limelight needs to be given to women.
