Who is Rama Kirloskar? The Joint Managing Director of Kirloskar Brothers Limited since August 3, 2021, the industrialist is also a member of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee and Risk Management Committee. Rama Kirloskar is the daughter of leading Indian Industrialist Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman of the Kirloskar Brothers Limited. With her expertise, she has led the company and many other projects to success while also turning Kirloskar Ebara Pumps Limited (KEPL) debt-free.

Rama Kirloskar served as Director of the Board of the Kirloskar Brothers Limited since 2017. She also served as the General Manager and  Head of the Product Portfolio Management at Kirolskar Brothers Ltd. in which she led the Go-To Market strategy, product value management, material grade rationalisation, product rationalisation for made-to-order businesses among other responsibilities.

Who is Rama Kirloskar?

Rama Kirloskar is an Indian Industrialist and daughter of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd. Chairman Sanjay Kirloskar and Pratima Kirloskar. The company has a legacy of over 130 years. She holds a double major degree from Bryn Mawr College, United States in Mathematics and Biology. Kirloskar also served at multi-venture capital firm Polaris Partners at Boston, United States, after her graduation. The company majorly invested in technology, healthcare and consumer products.

Speaking about family businesses in an interview, she said, "Family businesses, have an ingrained culture, there are so many things which are already set, and changing them with time can be difficult for old companies. As compared to starting a new company you can start with the latest processes. However, family businesses come with assets and you can create value with them. The utilisation of the resource base and innovation will always be a challenge for old companies." She strongly believes that being a woman is not a difficulty in running a family business. According to her the prerequisite for a leader whether a man or a woman is confidence and competence.

Her research at Koch Institute at Massachusetts Institute of Technology led her team to work with MIT biotechnology start-up Visterra Inc., which designs therapeutics for infectious diseases.

Rama Kirloskar has authored a journal-paper titled 'Structure-Guided Design of an Anti-Dengue Antibody Directed to a Non-Immunodominant Epitope' which studies a dengue antibody and its abilities to treat dengue when experimented on a non-immunodominant epitope.

Kirloskar also represents the Board of companies including Karad Projects and Motors Limited and Prakar Investments Private Limited. She is also a part of the Executive Council Accelerating Growth of New India's Innovations (AGNIi), a program under the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and the Prime Minister’s Science Technology and Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC).
