Gautam Adani, the founder and chairman of the Adani Group, recently raced to the third richest person in the world, according to the latest Bloomberg Billionaires data. The 60-year-old business tycoon has a net worth of $137 billion and has surpassed Fresh business magnate Bernard Arnault, the co-founder of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, a world leader in luxury fashion.

Adani is the co-founder of the Adani Group, which is the largest port operator in the country. The group is also said to be the largest coal trader in the country. As on April 28, 2022, the Group is constituted of seven publicly listed entities with businesses spanning across Energy, Ports & Logistics, Mining & Resources, Gas, Defence & Aerospace and Airports.

Gautam is married to Priti Adani and has 2 sons - Karan Adani and Jeet Adani.

Who Is Priti Adani?

Priti Adani was born in Mumbai and raised in Ahmedabad. An educationist and a qualified doctor with Bachelors in Dental Surgery (BDS),  Priti, she became the chairperson of the Adani Foundation after her marriage to Gautam Adani.

Under her guidance and leadership, Adani Foundation has been carrying out its activities in four core areas namely, Education, Community Health, Sustainable Livelihood Development, and Infrastructure Development.

On Gautam 60th bithday, Priti in a moving Twitter post admitted setting aside her career to serve the Adani Foundation. “Even if we are discouraged, he’ll give us confidence with new ideas and ways to approach an idea,” she earlier told YourStory of the move. In the same 2019 interview, Priti said she realised she could either help a few hundred people through dentistry or help thousands through the foundation. She said the decision was made to “serve a larger cause”.

According to Times Now, she developed four flagship programmes under the Adani Foundation - Saksham for skill development, Suposhan for malnutrition, Uthhan for education, and Swachhagraha for cleanliness.

On February 9, 2020, Priti was felicitated with a doctorate for her social work at the convocation ceremony at the GLS University, Ahmedabad. FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), the women business wing of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), in February 2022 presented the ‘FLO award of excellence 2022' to 25 eminent and iconic women including Priti Adani for 'Social Impact Education'.
