Tamil actor Meera Mithun faced backlash on social media following a resurfaced video of her in which she allegedly used a casteist slur and demanded the removal of all the scheduled tribes and scheduled caste actors from the industry. The police filed a case against the actor following a complaint made by the VCK leader on August 7.
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader filed a police complaint against the actor on Saturday in which he accused Mithun of being casteist in a video released by her.
After several retweets, the video caught the attention of the VCK Chief and MP Thol Thirumavalavan. He asked on his social media platform for the arrest of the actor and the person who interviewed her in the viral video.
She said in the video, “In the film industry, SC directors and other people of the community do cheap things. I think it’s time to chuck out all the scheduled caste directors and scheduled caste people from the industry. Cheap very cheap!”
Who Is Meera Mithun?
Mithun has even previously made her way into headlines for her controversial remarks and explosive statement. Born in Chetpet, Chennai, Mithun initially started with her career as a model and later turned into an actor.
Mithun also holds a bachelors degree in microbiology from Ethiraj College for Women and a masters degree from SRM University in Coimbatore. She worked as a researcher at Dr Cherian’s Foundation for a brief period of time.
From asking serving Prime Minister Narendra Modi to destroy Tamil Nadu to claiming she works in Hollywood as Kollywood neglected, Mithun has always been in the controversial spotlight. She had once accused Vijay and Rajnikanth of defaming her.
The actor made her film debut with Thottakkal in the year 2017 and claims that she is currently working in Hollywood.
