Who is Geeta Patel?

Episode 8's director, Geeta Patel, announced that King Viserys Targaryen's rule has ended, introducing Game of Thrones for the show. Patel said in an interview, "I think the last scene of this episode was always a litmus test. Every time we'd watch or think it through when we got to that last scene, did we feel what we wanted to feel there?"

She and her brother, Ravi Vasant Patel, received an Emmy nomination for their movie Meet The Patels. Geralyn Dreyfous, an Academy Award winner, served as the film's executive producer, and it had its theatrical debut in 2015. Along with her brother, Geeta Patel worked on the movie as a writer, producer, editor, and director.

She made her filmmaking debut with the Sundance/ITVS war thriller Project Kashmir, which earned her fellowships at the Tribeca and Sundance Institutes. In the world of television, Patel began as a second-unit director on the Netflix series Sense 8 from the Wachowskis and later directed humorous and dramatic programmes like Superstore, The Great, and House of the Dragon.

In the early phases of her career, Patel worked as an associate screenwriter on high-budget studio movies, doing everything from original writing to rewrites during production. She has collaborated on a variety of movies, including The Fast and the Furious and Blue Crush, with Disney, Universal Pictures, ABC, NBC, and Twentieth Century Fox.
