The administration has fired three other people, in addition to Karate's wife, Assabah Arzoomand Khan, for invoking Article 311 of the Indian Constitution. Assabah Arzoomand Khan is a Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) official from the 2011 batch. She is the wife of Farooq Ahmed Dar, aka Bitta Karate, the leader of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF). Here's everything we know about her.

Who Is Assabah Arzoomand Khan?

Khan earned her MA in Journalism from the University of Kashmir in Srinagar in 1999. Between 2003 and 2007, she continued to work at the Agriculture University of Science and Technology. Additionally, she had completed a Peace and Conflict Studies course at a German institution. Later, in 2009, she passed the exam for the Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS).

Khan reportedly met Bitta Karate in 2008 at a friend's residence, and five months later he proposed to her. She hesitated before approving his proposal as he was a former militant.
Even her parents were initially against the relationship, but they eventually came around after considerable persuasion from Karate's parents, and the couple was able to get married in 2011.
But Karate was detained once more in 2019—this time on suspicion of supporting terrorism. He served 16 years in prison until being freed in 2006.

Khan justified their marriage in 2011 by saying, "Most families in the Valley have such situations, where one son is a militant and the other works for the government. I'm not at all surprised that I married a former militant." She continued, "We had a community and that was one of the main things that attracted her to Farooq (Farooq Ahmed Dar alias Bitta Karate)."

Who is Bitta Karate?

Bitta Karate is a member of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF). He was arrested in 1990 on charges ranging from murder to terrorism and following Pakistan's orders to carry out the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits. He allegedly killed 42 people.
He was released in 2006 after 16 years in prison. In a 1991 interview, he said he had become a terrorist as he was harassed by the local administration.
