Who Is Anna Tybor? First Woman Mountaineer To Scale "Killer Mountain" Without Oxygen

Tybor is also the first Polish woman to ski down Mt Manaslu, which is the eighth-highest mountain in the world.

Who is Anna Tybor: Poland's Anna Tybor has become the first woman in the world to scale Nepal's infamous Mount Manaslu without supplementary oxygen support- a feat considered to be risky by many.

Tybor hails from a town named Zakopane in Poland, which is 407.6 kilometers from the capital city of Warsaw. With her recent mountaineering experience, Anna Tybor set yet another record, as she became the first Polis woman to ski down Mount Manaslu.

Located above the pine forests of Budhi Gandaki river valley in Nepal, the locals have nicknamed it the killer mountain because more than 60 people have died on its slope. The summit point is narrow and can only accommodate three climbers at a time. Manaslu means mountain of spirit, the word is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning "intellect or soul".

Here are few things to know about this Polish woman who has created history:

-  Tybor is also the first Polish woman to ski down Mt Manaslu, which is the eighth-highest mountain in the world.

- She left for the climb on September 27 and it took her two days to reach the summit of the mountain.

- Her trip to the summit was planned for last year but was delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

- To climb Mt Manaslu, Tybor had taken the same path as the past mountaineers like Emma Jack in 2009, Adrian Ballinger and Sergey Baranove in 2011.

- The 29-year-old mountaineer started skiing at the age of three and won her first Polish Skialpinism Cup at the age of 13. Since then, she chose this as her path. She is also part of the National Ski Mountaineering Team of Poland.

- For Tybor, skiing is not just a competition to win but a way of life. After her historical climb, she wishes to start skiing at the highest peaks.

- In her tributes, Tyber said that she was inspired by a legendary Polish ski mountaineering trailblazer Andrzej Bargiel, who was the first polish to achieve the same feat. -

- According to her Facebook bio, she studied at the Cracow University of Technology, a public university at Krakow in Poland. Tybor currently lives in Livigno, a town in Lombardy, Italy.
