Who is Adline Castelino? The Indian model has been vocal about advocating for the LGBTQ+ community and the betterment of farmers. Castelino has talked about providing members of the queer community with equal rights and opportunities.

Regarding changes she hoped to see regarding the queer community, Adline Castelino said that “I don’t think we need tolerance, we need acceptance.” She said that providing equal rights and opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community would level the playing field and lead to an open society.

Who Is Adline Castelino?

Speaking about the betterment of farmers, Castelino said that her grandmother was a farmer that died at the age of 22. She said that it was “time now to focus on the farmers, especially our female farmers.” Castelino added that female farmers do 70 per cent of the work, but are rarely talked about.

Advocacy And Social Work

Adline Castelino works with Vikaas Sahyog Pratishtan (VSP), an organisation that aims to provide farmers with a sustainable livelihood to curb farmer suicides.

During the lockdown, Castelino helped provide Desire Society, a non-profit voluntary organisation with food supplies, sanitisers and face masks. Desire Society cares for children in India that are infected with human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV).

In 2021, Castelino organised fundraisers to provide donations to Agricultural Resource Centre which aimed to supply sowing equipment, sprinkler sets, petrol pump spray, thrasher units and other agricultural machinery to Women Self-Help Groups. It also aimed to train the women in the groups on how to utilise the agricultural equipment

Castelino also initiated fundraisers for the Akshaya Patra Foundation, which aimed to provide grocery kits and meals to marginalised and low-income members of society. The people helped by the fundraiser included migrant labourers, daily wage workers, and people at old age homes.

Modelling Career

As a model, Adline Castelino was crowned Miss Diva Universe 2020 and represented India at the Miss Universe 2020, where she placed fourth. Castelino’s rank as fourth was India’s highest placement in the Miss Universe pageant 21 years since Lara Dutta won the title of Miss Universe 2000.
