Where to watch Shershaah: Actor Sidharth Malhotra will be seen essaying the role Kargil War hero Captain Vikram Batra in his upcoming film Shershaah. The film, which also features Kiara Advani in lead, is a war drama producer Karan Johar. The makers of the film had earlier planned for a theatrical release but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Shershaah was moved to OTT.

Shershaah will now release on August 12, ahead of the Independence Day weekend. The film will clash with another war drama, Ajay Devgn's Bhuj: The Pride of India, which will also premiere digitally, on August 13.
The one-and-a-half-minute long recently released teaser of Shershaah gives us glimpses of the film's plot. It focuses on the soldier who died in combat during the Kargil War. The teaser tells viewers that the Kargil War was "India's first televised war". Sharing the short video, filmmaker Johar on his Twitter handle wrote Shershaah is an ordinary man’s extraordinary journey of courage and valour.
In the video, we get to see Malhotra in an army uniform and it also contains some real-life footage of Captain Vikram Batra from the Kargil War. More here.
Speaking about the film, Johar noted that Shershaah is the true story of a Kargil war hero who brought victory to the nation. His sacrifices are invaluable, Johar said, while adding that the film is a homage to the valour of our soldiers and that he hopes every viewer’s heart swells with pride watching this film.
The film focuses on Captain Vikram Batra's sacrifice in the Kargil War of 1999. "Staying true to his codename ‘Shershaah’, Captain Batra’s valiant fight and ultimate sacrifice was instrumental in India’s victory,” the synopsis of the film reads. More here.
