Sexual Assault Case Against Malayalam Film Actor Vijay Babu: 10 Things To Know

A case has been registered against Malayalam film actor and producer Vijay Babu by the Kerala Police after he was accused of sexual assault by a survivor, who is a native of Kozhikode district. The survivor accused the actor of sexually assaulting her on multiple occasions on the pretext of providing her work in films.

The case against Vijay Babu was registered by the Ernakulam South Police after they received a complaint from a survivor on April 22. As per the complaint, Vijay Babu allegedly assaulted the survivor at a flat in Kochi, Kerala.

However, recently the actor did a Facebook Live session wherein he denied all the allegations against him, while also revealing the name of the survivor and saying that in the case he was the "victim".  Babu also plans to file a defamation case against the survivor soon.

- The case against Vijay Babu was registered at the Ernakulam South Police on April 22, this year. The survivor is a native of the Kozhikode district.

- The survivor alleged that the incident took place at a flat in Kochi, Kerala.

- She also alleged that it was not a single offence, but was repeated more than once.

- The survivor, in the complaint, stated that Vijay Babu allegedly used to commit the offence under the pretext of offering acting roles in films.

- Vijay Babu is an actor and a film producer in the Malayalam film industry. He is the founder of the company named Friday Film House. He has also won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Children's Film, for the film Philips and The Monkey Pen.

- With regards to the case, the police are yet to question Vijay Babu or detain him.

- Babu conducted a Facebook Live session to reject all the allegations levied against him, where he disclosed the survivor's name.

- He also claimed that he was the survivor in the case.

- Onmanorama reported that the actor also said that he will soon be filing a defamation case against the survivor and said that he was ready to face the consequences of revealing the name.

- The actor further claimed that he had the required proof with him in connection with the case.
