Actor Vijay’s Varisu is all set for release. The film is directed by Vamshi Paidipally and produced by Dil Raju and looks like a commercial family entertainer with nothing new in store.

 This will be actor Vijay’s first release of the year. He was last seen in the film Beast, which was released in April 2022. The trailer was released on Wednesday by the actor and the makers of the film. The trailer hit 23 million views and 1.8 million likes within 24 hours. As the movie is clashing with Boney Kapoor’s Thunivu, featuring Ajith Kumar, the fans of both actors are making a lot of noise on social media. While fans are competing against each other in the comment section, audiences and critics have commented that the movie has nothing new to offer.

The ">trailer begins with a joint family, consisting of Sarathkumar, Jayasudha, and their sons, along with their spouses and children. Vijay is introduced as a fun-loving man who pursues his passion of travelling and is not really involved in the family business. Sarathkumar plays Vijay's father, who owns a huge business empire, and Prakash Raj plays the villain, a rival businessman. It seems that Vijay takes the lead when Prakash Raj targets the business. Vijay's family breaks up due to some problems, and it's up to Vijay to unite his family and save their business empire. Rashmika Mandana plays Vijay's love interest, and from the looks of the trailer, she doesn't seem to have a strong character arc. The trailer ends with a dialogue about family sentiment. So the film seems to be a typical commercial family entertainer with nothing new to offer.

Plot

The trailer for the film was released on Wednesday and pretty much gives away the entire plot of the film. Varisu seems to tell the story of a wealthy family, with Vijay being the youngest son of the three. Actor Sarathkumar plays the father who runs the business empire. A competitor is targeting the family and the business, and it's up to Vijay to unite the family and protect the business.

Cast

Vijay plays the protagonist, while Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead. Prakash Raj dons the role of antagonist. The cast also includes Sarathkumar, Jayasudha, Shyaam, Srikanth, Prabhu, and Khushbu.

The movie also stars Yogi Babu, Sangeetha Krish, Samyuktha, VTV Ganesh, Sriman, Ganesh Venkatraman, Suman, John, Vijay, and Sathish in supporting roles.

Release date

The movie is all set to release on January 11, 2023, making it a festive release in Tamil Nadu as the state celebrates Pongal.
