Toofaan release date announced: The release date for Farhan Akhtar starrer Toofaan was revealed on social media by the film's main lead. Produced by Akhtar's Excel Movies, Toofaan will have an OTT release on July 16. This is not the makers of Toofaan have set a release date for the film.
Taking to Twitter on June 16, Akhtar wrote, "With humility, love and in dedication to the fighting spirit of the beautiful people of our nation, our film ‘Toofaan’ will be releasing on July 16th."

Earlier the sports drama was slated for a digital release on May 21, however it was postponed due to the pandemic. On May 3, Akhtar had shared the news about postponement of the film's release, writing, "The situation in India is truly heartbreaking, and we at Excel Entertainment and ROMP Pictures send our thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by the pandemic," adding that in the light of the severity of the situation, their focus was completely on the pandemic and on supporting their employees, their families and in helping the wider community. Toofaan has been directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, and also stars Mrunal Thakur and Paresh Rawal in key roles. The film will stream on Prime Video.
