Stacey Pentland Passes Away: The influencer who moved many by chronicling her struggle with advanced-stage cancer, Stacey Pentland has passed away. The 37-year-old used TikTok to raise awareness about cancer and encouraged people to go see a doctor in case they were experiencing grave symptoms.
In April 2020, Pentland experienced sudden pain while she was outdoors cutting grass. Upon check-up, she found out that not only did she have lymphoma cancer, but the tumours had also spread across her body.
According to a report by Q102, Pentland is survived by her husband Anthony and children Chloe, Sophie, Geordie & AJ. Earlier this year, Pentland had expressed concern over the expenses that her family might have to incur for her funeral. The social media influencer had to quit work and rely on benefits while under treatment. Despite knowing that the prognosis was poor, she went ahead with chemotherapy for cancer treatment to be able to spend as much time with her children as possible.
She told the Mirror in January, that the chemo treatment was unbelievably gruelling, “But I’m doing it for my kids – they could chop all my limbs off if it meant I could be there for my kids for longer.”
Last year, things were looking up for the family after Pentland was told by the doctors around Christmas that the spread of her cancer was stalled. However, in January 2021, she contracted COVID-19 infection and before she knew it, her cancer began spreading at a much faster rate.
Stacey Pentland had more than 183,000 followers on TikTok. She said she started putting up videos because she felt unbelievable alone when she was diagnosed and didn’t want anybody else to feel that way. Pentland’s chronicles infact motivated people to seek medical aid in case they were experiencing any worrying symptoms. “Now I’ve had thousands of messages of support, people saying ‘because of you I went to the doctor, they found my cancer early’.”
