The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes is an upcoming American documentary film directed by Emma Cooper which is backed by Netflix. It tells the story of American actor Marilyn Monroe's life and untimely death through archival video and never-before-seen interviews with her friends. The documentary will premiere on April 27, 2022.

Marilyn Monroe's legacy lives on through her famous films and images, making her one of America's most celebrated cinematic idols. Her link-ups and career challenges were well-known, and while her death at the age of 36 was ruled a suicide, it remained a mystery for many. This documentary will not only explore her romantic relationships and professional challenges but will also shed light on her untimely death.

1. The documentary may explore the rumours surrounding her supposed relationships with baseball legend Joe DiMaggio, writer Arthur Miller, and President John F Kennedy, as well as her popularity in the face of different controversies.

2. The docufilm's trailer is 1.13 minutes long and begins with the question, "How do you feel about writing a life story?" It is followed by Monroe's remark, “The true things rarely get into circulation, it’s usually the false things.” The teaser then displays a few scenes from Monroe's Hollywood career, which includes a lot of fame and scandals.

3. The documentary then tracks her journey through questionable weeks leading up to her death in an attempt to unravel her mysterious demise.

4. Things immediately become dark when we learn that details about the night of the star's death were kept under wraps, making explanations difficult to come by.

5. In 1962, Marilyn Monroe was discovered dead, and her case was revived in 1992. Several unreleased interviews from the 1992 inquiry are shown in this film. "Marilyn and the truth, it's like walking into the lion's den, and I did really find out things that had not been found out before." a commentator in the trailer said.

6. Chris Smith executive produces the upcoming documentary film, which seeks to bring together all of her secrets while uncovering the mystery surrounding her murder.

7.  It is a provocative, dark, and investigative genre of film, whose official synopsis reads, "Long-unheard talks with John Huston and Hollywood's elite help piece together Marilyn Monroe's life and untimely death."
8. The documentary's  official tagline is “the brighter the star, the darker the truth.”

9. While the documentary may not be willing to fill in all of the gaps, it does promise to focus on the plethora of conspiracy theories that have surfaced since that fateful and enigmatic night in 1962.

10.  The documentary will also strive to pay homage to the late legend by focusing on her early life and climb to popularity, as well as the secrets she kept dear to her heart.
