With Taco Bell commercial CL creates history: Rapper CL is now the first solo female artist from South Korea to appear in a US television advertisement. As per a representative from CL's agency, "As K-pop became more popular, there were many singers who starred in global commercials centering in Asia. However, CL is the first to star in an American TV commercial.”

Apart from CL, To All The Boys series fame Noah Centineo, drag queen Onyx Black, and TikTok star Nava Rose are also seen in the advertisement.

CL made her debut as a member of YG Entertainment's girl band 2NE1 in 2009. She was just 15 years old at the time of her debut. In 2013, she made her solo debut with the song The Baddest Female. She became the first female Korean solo artist to secure a place in Billboard Hot 100 with her song Lifted in 2016. She is now getting ready for the release of her upcoming album ALPHA.
