Buthelezi hailed from the South African province of Gauteng. She stepped foot into the world of film and theatre with grassroots participation. Later, she got her big break with Generations in 2013.

Generations was a soap opera from the 1990s. It revolved around the lives and aspirations of the South African youth. It was one of the most-watched shows in the country. But its popularity was short-lived as the cast members went on a strike protesting low pay. The show came back after a rebrand.

Buthelezi’s role in the soap opera as Zinhle, the girlfriend of Chopper (played by Mandla Gaduka), was quite a hit among her fans.
