Revathy Sampath: Malayalam actor Revathy Sampath has been in the news for her social media post of June 15.

Sampath took to Facebook and listed 14 names whom she alleged to be her harassers. The actor mentioned personalities from all walks of life including a policeman, director, actor and many others.

Sampath in her post wrote, " I am mentioning here the names of abusers or criminals in professional/personal/strange/cyberspaces who have sexually, mentally, verbally, emotionally molested me in my life so far..!!!” She used  "#NotAnInchBack” in her posts.

Timeline of Events:

  • From Democratic Youth Federation of Indian (DYFI) member to the photographer, Sampath's list posted on June 15 had included a wide variety of people. She alleged them to be abusers.
  • The names mentioned in the post are- Rajesh Touchriver, Siddique (Actor), Nandu Ashokan (Abuser, DYFI Unit Committee Member, Nedumkad) Ashiq Mahi (Photographer), Shiju A. R (Actor), Ajay Prabhakar (Doctor), Abhil Dev (Kerala Fashion League, Founder), M. Yesssss, Padush (Abuser), Saurabh Krishnan (Cyber Bully), Maxwell Jose (Short Film Director), Rakent Pai, Cast Me Perfect (Casting Director), Shannon Karuvath & Chackos Cakes (Ad Director), Sub Inspector Binu (Poonthura Police Station, Trivandrum), Sarun Leo (ESAF Bank Agent, Valiyathura).
  • After revealing the names, Sampath released pictures of the alleged abusers on Facebook. While sharing the pictures, the actor wrote, "So many women share harassments they’ve faced from many on and off this list. The world is yet to know the criminals of many good trees. The struggles don’t end.”
  • After the social media post went viral, the actor didn't just receive support but also criticism. Many praised the actor for showing courage and naming her abusers publically but others called it a publicity move.
  • The actor has been seen in a couple of Malayalam films. One being Waft and the other one Patnagarh. Sampath is a psychology graduate from KSG College of Arts and Science and calls herself a feminist and a communist on social media.
