Payal Rohatgi case: Actor Payal Rohatgi was arrested in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Friday. She has reportedly sent threatening and abusive messages to her society's chairperson on social media. The actor had later deleted her post.
In addition, Rohatgi has been accused of using obscene language in her post. Reportedly, she also threatened to implicate other members of the society in false cases, India Today reported. Here is the timeline of the case which is now being overseen by the Satellite Police in Ahmedabad.
– Actor Payal Rohatgi has been arrested for repeatedly engaging in a feud with her society members and threatening to kill the chairperson.
– The complaint against Rohatgi was filed by a doctor named Parag Shah, a resident of the same society. Rohatgi had allegedly also hurled abuses and used derogatory language for the chairperson in society WhatsApp groups, Zee News reported.
– The complainant also alleged that Rohatgi threatened to break the leg of anyone who argued with her and got into verbal abuse over a common plot used as a playing area. She had gone on to threaten the society members to file false cases against them if they go against her. More here.
– On Thursday, Rohatgi took to her Instagram and said she’s being trapped by certain people, “I know I am being used to fulfil an agenda by certain people who themselves don’t want to do the dirty work, but I am going with the flow even though I know I am being trapped as God has a plan for me which none of these powerful people can even touch," she wrote in a recently-shared post.
– According to sources, on June 20, the actor attended the society's meeting despite not being a member. When she was asked not to speak, she started hurling abuse at the members. – Known for her role in 36 China Town film, Rohatgi made her acting debut with the film Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai? in 2002. She was later seen on reality television shows like Khatron Ke Khiladi 2 and Bigg Boss 2.
– After her arrest by the police, she was taken for COVID-19 and other medical tests.
– The Dhol actor has been in the news several times previously for her controversial statements. She was arrested by the Bundi police in Rajasthan in 2019 for her alleged comments against the former Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
– Her Twitter account was suspended twice last year owing to abusive content. She had slammed several Bollywood stars over nepotism after the sudden demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020.
