2022 was a great year for OTT as many blockbuster movies and shows were released on various online platforms and delivered top-notch entertainment at home. As the year ends, here is a look at all the shows that captured the hearts of the audience this year.

We have reached the end of 2022 and it seems like yesterday when we were waiting patiently for the release of Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi in December 2021 and ended up being saddened due to its postponement that changed our New Year plans. But the year went on to give us many great OTT and theatre releases including movies like RRR and Brahmastra to shows like Campus Diaries to Jamtara. Here is a look at which shows on SonyLIV, MX Player and Zee5 became the audience's favourites.

2022 Popular Shows To Watch On SonyLIV MX Player Zee5

Tanaav

This action thriller series is the Hindi remake of the Israeli show Fauda and stars Ekta Kaul, Manav Vij, Arbaaz Khan and Sumit Kaul in important roles. The show is set in the backdrop of Kashmir and focuses on a special army mission to swipe away a dangerous terrorist from the state. The show was released on SonyLIV on November 11 and consists of 12 episodes.

Aashram Season 3

One of the most popular franchises on OTT. Aashram released its third season on MX Player on June 3. The new season depicts how Pammi Pahelwan escapes from the dangerous grip of Baba Nirala and fights to expose the true face of the sexual offender who appears all mighty and great to the world. Starring Bobby Deol, Aaditi Pohankar, Anupriya Goenka and Chandan Roy Sanyal in pivotal roles, the season consisted of 10 episodes.

Tripling Season 3

TVF’s Tripling stars Amol Parashar, Sumeet Vyas and Maanvi Gagroo in pivotal roles and its third season released on October 21 on Zee5. After many self-exploring and bonding trips in previous seasons, the Sharma siblings get ready for another family trip, this time to reunite their divorcing parents. The 15-episode-long season is about them not accepting their parent's separation and deciding to bring them together.

Gullak Season 3

Starring Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Jameel Khan and Harsh Mayar in pivotal roles, this series focuses on the middle-class struggles of the Mishra family. From electricity bills to education and job, the SonyLIV show highlights the everyday issues that every common family in India faces. Season 3 saw everyone's grown-up version, while Aman's dreams grow big, Annu's desires try to expand but he thinks it's better to sacrifice them for the sake of the family.

Campus Diaries

One of the most loved coming-of-age dramas on OTT, Campus Diaries was released on MX Player in January and starred Ritvik Sahore, Saloni Gaur, Harsh Beniwal and Ranjan Raj in pivotal roles. The show depicts the story of six friends who study at Excel University and besides the normal challenges of their college life, friendship, love and career, there is more to their struggles and narratives.

Duranga

This show is the official Hindi remake of the Korean drama Flower Of Evil and starred Gulshan Devaiah, Drashti Dhami, Amit Sadh and Barkha Bisht Sengupta in important roles. The story revolves around a Mumbai police officer who is investigating a case of serial killings by a copycat killer whose methods are similar to a closed 17 years old murder case. The officer opens up the old case once again and realises that one of the accused was not arrested.

Maharani Season 2

This SonyLIV series is inspired by the life of Rabri Devi, the wife of Bihar CM Lalu Yadav who was made the CM of the state after her husband was imprisoned. The show chronicles the journey of Rani Bharti from homemaker to the CM of the state amid the challenges from her rivals and the constant struggle of her own people to bring her down. The show stars Huma Qureshi, Sohum Shah, Amit Sial and Kani Kusruti in important roles.

Dharavi Bank

This crime series that was released on MX Player starred Suniel Shetty, Sonali Kulkarni and Vivek Oberoi in lead roles. Set in the slums of Mumbai's Dharavi, the show features the fight for power between Dharavi's dreaded gangster Thalaivan which has reached the deepest roots of the slum and Chief Minister Janvi Surve and Joint Commissioner of Police Jayant Gavaskar.

Rangbaaz Season 3

This series follows the rise of Bihar's most notorious gangster and politician Saheb Haroon Shah Ali Baig to power. Season 3 released on Zee5 on July 29 featured the environment of Bihar's politics before the elections of 2010. The show stars Vineet Kumar Singh, Vijay Maurya, Aakanksha Singh, Rajesh Tailang and Geetanjali Kulkarni in important roles.

College Romance Season 3

Bagga, Deepika, Dhatrapriya, Karan, Trippy and Naira are back with new struggles of their college life. While Bagga and Naira struggle with their long-distance relationship, Deepika is conscious about her relationship with a junior boy. The season also focuses on the family pressures on college students and coming out struggles. The SonyLIV show stars Gagan Arora, Apoorva Arora, Keshav Sadhna, Nupur Nagpal and Shreya Mehta in important roles.

Raktanchal

Starring Nikitin Dheer, Kranti Prakash Jha, Soundarya Sharma and Kenisha Awasthi in important roles, this MX Player drama is about the rivalry between Waseem Khan and Vijay Singh to acquire the tenders of state government work in Purvanchal. While Khan is a criminal, Singh is a good man and wants to work sincerely for the public but their struggle for power turns into a bloody rivalry that will affect their loved ones as well.

Saas Bahu Aur Achaar Pvt Ltd

This Zee5 drama series stars Yamini Das, Amruta Subhash, Manu Bisht and Anjana Sukhani in pivotal roles. The story of the show is about a woman struggling to set up her pickle business and earn money in order to get custody of her children from her ex-husband. She is helped by her ex-mother-in-law to market and sell her pickles while her children head towards the wrong path creating new challenges.

Pitchers Season 2

This Zee5 web series stars Jitendra Kumar, Arunabh Kumar, Abhay Mahajan and Naveen Kasturia as four friends who quit their day jobs with the dream of becoming entrepreneurs. They open a start-up company but are faced with challenges and trials that test their friendship and capabilities. The show returns after 7 years on December 23 with a new pitch and new market challenges as the co-founders try to revive their company back.
