The comedy-drama Mimi starring Kriti Sanon was released on Monday after the film was reportedly leaked online. Initially, the Laxman Utekar directorial was slated to release on 30 July, however, the premiere was moved forward.

Mimi is based on the National Award winner Marathi film titled Mala Aai Vahhaychy!. The titular role played by Kriti Sanon is a small-town girl in Rajasthan who has aspirations to become a Bollywood actor. After being offered a hefty amount, that could help her fulfil her dreams, she decided to become a surrogate mother to a foreign couple. Besides the actor, the film features Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak and Sai Tamhankar in key roles.

Here’s what we know about the Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon:

-Kriti Sanon shared the ramp with biggies like Madhu Sapre and Milind Soman at the age of five.

The actor who has been featured in ads of various leading brands, was seen in a Vivel soap commercial in 2011.

-She didn’t always aspire to become an actor, in fact, she has completed her B.Tech in Electronics and Communication from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology in Uttar Pradesh.

-Although the actor gained recognition with her appearance in the Hindi film Heropanti, prior to that she featured opposite superstar Mahesh Babu in the Telugu film Nenokkadine.

-After her debut in Hindi films, she featured in her second Telugu film Dohchay starring Naga Chaitanya in 2015.

-Besides acting, she also has a passion for poetry about which she talked about in an interview. “I write poetry. I used to write a lot more when I was in school and college, but then my medium of letting out my emotions changed to acting.”

-The 31-year-old is also a trained Kathak dancer.
