Actor Konkana Sen Sharma in a recent interview said that she 'has been really privileged and blessed'.
Sen Sharma started as a child actor in Bengali films. As an adult, she started her career with Madhur Bhandarkar's movie, Page 3. Sen Sharma said that she makes a point to do unconventional films which often stand out.
In the interview taken by Times Now News, Konkana Sen Sharma said, "The thing is that I have been very lucky. I have been really privileged and blessed, so it is not the usual story because my mother is a pretty well-respected director, actress, etc." Konkana also felt that this was the reason why she feels that she wasn't taken undue advantage of in the film industry. She also said that she 'wasn't ever really dying to be an actor' meaning she wasn't always keen on becoming an actor. Sharma is the daughter of veteran actor and filmmaker Aparna Sen.
The Bengali actor added, "And it is inherently an unequal and unjust system. Most systems are. I already knew that it's not like that the people who are truly talented, are getting their due anyway or are getting their awards anyway. So I already knew it's a skewed system anyway, to begin with. So, I had very low expectations."
Sen added, "Generally, I am very handy in life. Because if you just keep your expectations low, then anything that happens is a bonus. So, that's great."
The 41-year-old actor carries both her mother's and father's surname both. She uses 'Sen Sharma' as her surname is a combination of Aparna Sen and Mukul Sharma. Konkana Sen Sharma had got married to Ranvir Shorey, they separated after that. She currently shares the custody of her son with Shorey. On the work front, she will be seen in the upcoming series, Mumbai Diaries 26/11 which also stars Mohit Sharma.
