It is difficult for people to differentiate between porn and sex education. They consider them as same even though sex education aims at providing sexual health knowledge. Citing the increasing cases of sexually transmitted diseases, sexual health problems and confusion and myths among people, it is important to educate people about it. The task of raising awareness about sexual health was taken up by some thoughtful Bollywood movies and series that attempted to remove the stigma around the topic.

This upcoming Zee5 movie stars Rakul Preet Singh, Sumeet Vyas, Satish Kaushik and Dolly Ahluwalia in important roles. The movie is about a chemistry specialist who notices that her sister-in-law's health is deteriorating because her husband does not have protected sex and even schools don't teach children properly about safe sex. Hence, she takes the task of imparting sex education to children.

Janhit Mein Jaari

Starring Nushrat Bharucha, Vijay Raaz, Tinnu Anand, Anud Singh Dhaka and Brijendra Kala in important roles, this 2022 social drama film focuses on Manokamna Tripathi who takes the job of a condom salesperson. Out to raise awareness regarding safe sex, she not only faces resistance from the society and public but also from her own family who tries to stop her from continuing the 'taboo' job.

Khandaani Shafakhaana

Another female lead who is out to create a difference, Sonakshi Sinha in this 2019 comedy-drama plays the role of Babita Bedi, a Punjabi medical representative who struggles with her job and her greedy relatives who are after her house. When she receives the inheritance of her dead maternal uncle, she is forced to operate a family fertility clinic to claim the property. Watch her go about treating patients in a conservative society.

This 2022 film starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rakul Preet Singh, Sheeba Chaddha and Shefali Shah is about a male gynaecologist Dr Uday Gupta. Though wanting to take orthopaedics, he ends up taking gynaecology owing to his marks in the medical exam. However, his journey as a male gynaecologist is really tough as women do not prefer a male doctor examining them.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar star in pivotal roles in this 2017 film. The movie is about the love story of Mudit Sharma and Sugandha Sharma who try to get intimate before marriage but end up knowing that Mudit suffers from erectile dysfunction. Even after multiple attempts of trying to cure it, the couple fails to improve the condition which makes Mudit rethink their marriage. Things worsen when families get to know about the situation.

This SonyLIV web series starring Sandeepa Dhar, Kumud Mishra, Vidya Malvade and Raj Arjun in pivotal roles focuses on the life of Dr Arora, a 'gupt rog' aka sexual problem specialist in a small town during 1999. This series shows how the doctor comes across different people with different bedroom problems during a time when talking about sexual health, especially by women, was very difficult.
