Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele: The OTT space in India is known to not shy away from conversations on gender and sexuality. How many of these conversations does the space get right is another matter altogether. But what matters is that we now have a medium where content revolving around the LGBT community and the issues it faces are no longer novel.
Upcoming Disney + Hotstar film Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele, starring Zareen Khan in the lead, seems to be the latest offering in this space. This road movie tells the story of a lesbian woman and a gay man who go on a road trip to Himachal Pradesh’s Mcleodganj from Delhi. Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele promises to defy the stereotype “Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus”.

The film was also screened at Indian LGBTQ film festival Kashish, where the film won big in categories like the Best Film-Audience Choice, Best Director and Jury Award for both Best Actor -Male and Female in Hindi Films.
