Gangubai Kathiawadi Telugu Teaser Out Tomorrow, Alia Bhatt Announces On Social Media

Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt took to Instagram stories to share her excitement over the release of the much-awaited Telugu film Vakeel Saab. She also revealed that the Telugu teaser for her Gangubai Kathiawadi will be released on April 9.

She extended her best wishes to the film's team in Telugu. The video also featured a caption that said that the Telugu teaser of her film Gangubai Kathiawadi will be out tomorrow along with Vakeel Saab on the big screen.

Vakeel Saab has been directed by director Venu Sriram, and stars actors Pawan Kalyan, Nivetha Thomas, Anjali, Ananya Nagalla, and Shruti Hassan. It is the Telugu remake of the Hindi film Pink, which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles. Interestingly, the Hindi film was previously remade in Tamil titled Nerkonda Paarvai, which starred Bollywood actor Vidya Balan. The film aims to address social issues such as consent, misogyny along with others.

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt is awaiting the release of her film Gangubai Kathiawadi which is based on the life of a sex worker who goes by the same name. Alia Bhatt plays the titular role, of the woman who went on to become one of the most influential and respected madams from the Kamathipura area in Mumbai. This was back in the 1960s when, Kathiawadi became a prominent figure in the red light area. It will be released on July 30 this year.

The film has been directed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and is based on Hussain Zaidi's book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. 

However, the film had been dragged into an ongoing legal battle after Gangubai’s adopted son Babuji Rawji Shah filed a defamation case against the film. He said that the film is 'tarnishing his mother's image.'

A week ago, an additional chief metropolitan magistrate court in Mumbai issued summons to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt regarding the film's portrayal of Gangubai Kathiawadi. They will have to appear in court on May 21.

Alia Bhatt will also be starring in the Telugu film RRR.
