Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajnikanth had recently announced their separation after eighteen years of marriage.  But the actor's father, filmmaker Kasthuri Raja termed the separation as "a family quarrel" while denying the rumours regarding the divorce.

In an interview with the Dailythandi newspaper, Kasthuri Raja, a Tamil film director said that Dhanush and Aishwaryaa's are splitting due to a disagreement. "It is a family quarrel that usually takes place between a married couple.” Apparently, this is not a divorce, Raja said.

“Dhanush and Aishwaryaa are not in Chennai at present. Both are in Hyderabad. I spoke to both of them over the phone and gave them some advice," Kasthuri Raja added.

All about Dhanush-Aishwaryaa split

In a social media post on January 17, Dhanush wrote, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting, and adapting.”

Aishwaryaa shared the same note on Instagram and captioned it, “No caption needed only your understanding n your love necessary!”

Dhanush and Aishwaryaa tied the knot in 2004 and have two sons together, Yatra and Linga. Aishwaryaa and Dhanush worked together in 3 which was the directorial debut of the former. The film has the viral song "Why This Kolaveri Di".

Speaking about her relationship, Aishwaryaa had said in an earlier interview, “The best thing about our relationship is the fact that we give each other plenty of space. Neither of us believes in changing for the other person just because we want to be together. When you are in your mid-20ss your mind is set in terms of what you believe in and it is very hard to change yourself.”

Aishwaryaa Rajnikanth is the daughter of iconic southern actor Rajnikanth and is a film director and playback singer. She was selected as India's goodwill ambassador for the UN Women organisation to promote gender equality in 2016.

Actor Dhanush was last seen in the Hindi film Atrangi Re, directed by Anand L Rai, alongside Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar. He will next be seen in the Hollywood film The Gray Man featuring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana De Armas in lead roles.
