Kangana Ranaut Summoned By Delhi Assembly Panel Seeks More Time

Actor Kangana Ranaut has reportedly asked for some more time before appearing before Delhi Assembly's panel on peace and harmony. The cited her personal and professional commitments. The panel had summoned Ranaut over the controversial remark she made on social media against the Sikh community.

As per reports, the actor was asked to be present before the panel today, on December 6. The head of peace and harmony committee Raghav Chadha said, "Kangana Ranaut's lawyer, in a letter, has informed that the actor cannot appear before the panel due to personal and professional commitments. She has sought more time. Today's meeting stands cancelled. The committee will inform its decision to her in a letter."

The peace and harmony committee was formed that the riots that took place in Delhi in February 2020. The panel looks into matters that could disrupt the peace. In the summon for Ranaut, the committee had written that the actor "blanketly labelling (Sikhs) as Khalistani terrorists... has the potential to engender disharmony as well as cause wounding humiliation to the entire Sikh community."
The committee reportedly received many complaints by individuals over her controversial and 'offensive' remarks shared on the social media. The said comment against Sikh community was posted by Ranaut on November 20, 2021. An FIR has also been registered against Ranaut in Mumbai by Sikhs for her alleged derogatory language used against the community.
The actor had equated the farmers protests in Delhi to the Khalistani movement. When the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi announced about the repealing of the three farm laws, the actor shared a picture of Indira Gandhi on her Instagram profile and said that she "crushed the khalistanis". She also lauded her for taking the 'decisive action'. Since the farmers protests had started in 2020, the actor has made controversial remarks against the farmers and has even called them terrorists.
