Meet Chung Ha, Korean Singer Who Brought K-pop And Latin Music Together

South Korean singer Chung Ha flexed her language skills in the Spanish track titled Demente from her debut studio album, Querencia.

South Korean singer Chung Ha recently dropped a new single titled Demente in collaboration with Puerto Rican rapper Guaynaa.

The K-pop idol showed off her language skills in the Spanish track from her debut studio album, Querencia.

In the original version of Demente, from her long-awaited album that dropped last month, the K-pop superstar sang in Korean and Spanish. The lead single of the 25-year-old singer's latest album Bicycle with the music video was released on the same day.

Here are 10 things to know about the K-pop soloist Chung Ha:

  • Chung Ha, who was born in South Korea as Kim Chan-mi, has lived in Dallas, Texas for 7 years under her English name Annie Kim.
  • She appeared on Mnet’s Produce 101 under the agency MNH Entertainment, which was a newly established agency, and was named as the very first artist from the company. 
  • The K-pop star auditioned for YG Entertainment and was a JYP Entertainment trainee before joining her agency. 
  • Following her Mnet appearance, she became a member of the resulting girl group I.O.I. Later in 2017, the group dissolved but Chung Ha debuted as a solo artist.  
  • The Korean artist specialises in Waacking, a part of the street dance genre. She showed off her skills in Mnet’s Hit The Stage. 
  • Chung Ha managed to collaborate with one of her favourite artists, HwaSa, a member of the Korean girl group Mamamoo. 
  • She has also made a cameo appearance in a Korean drama, Entourage, along with groupmate Lim Na-young.
  • In 2017, she released the first episode of her own reality show, Chungha's Free Month, on YouTube and NaverTV.
  • The following year, Chung Ha became the ambassador for the Seoul International Architecture Film Festival along with a few other K-pop idols.
  • Chung Ha's single Gotta Go ranked number three on Billboard’s 25 Best K-pop Songs of 2019.
