Horror movies have been around for more than a century and have proven to be commercially successful, whether in theatres or on OTT. Monsters, apocalyptic events, and religious or folk beliefs are all prominent characteristics in these films, which typically deal with the gloomy subject matter and subversive subjects or thoughts. Following the pandemic, OTT has left no stone unturned in its quest to raise the bar by creating spine-chilling horror films.

Best horror films on Amazon Prime:

Chhorii (2021)

Chhorii is a horror film from India. The film stars Nushrratt Bharucha in the lead role, alongside Mita Vashisht, Rajesh Jais, and Saurabh Goyal, and is a remake of the Marathi-language film Lapachhapi (2017). A married couple, Hemant and Sakshi, are forced to flee their home and seek sanctuary in a secluded location. However, she is quickly confronted with supernatural events that put her life in jeopardy. Although the haunted premise and really horrifying portions make for a suitably spooky experience, some have remarked that the movie is predictable in places and needs some trimming.

Wrong Turn (2021)

Wrong Turn is a horror film series from the United States. The first six films follow many families of malformed cannibals who hunt and kill people in West Virginia using a combination of traps and weapons. Wrong Turn: The Foundation is a reboot horror film about six friends who become hunted by the Foundation after mistakenly intruding on the community's grounds while hiking the Appalachian Trail. Charlotte Vega, Adain Bradley, Emma Dumont, Dylan McTee, Daisy Head, Bill Sage, and Matthew Modine are among the cast members. It's worth watching because of its unpredictability and capacity to elicit a strong reaction.

Malignant (2021)

Starring George Young, Mckenna Grace, Maddie Hasson and others, the American horror film Malignant is based around Madison, a young woman, who is paralysed by visions of the murders of strangers. In a shocking turn of events, she learns that these killings are real and decides to find and save the victims. Director James Wan is known for his gore and horrific themes and this film of his was no different. Despite a few errors in logic and the film, it is a wonderful watch if you want a jumpscare.

Ghost of war (2020)

The supernatural horror film Ghosts of War is based on a true story. Brenton Thwaites, Theo Rossi, Skylar Astin, Kyle Gallner, and Alan Ritchson star in the film. At the close of World War II, five battle-hardened American soldiers were ordered to hold a French chateau. They do, however, come upon a supernatural foe considerably more terrifying than anything they've encountered on the battlefield. The concept of the film is a rather fair supernatural horror movie; it's a little creepy and unsettling.
