Malayalam actor Saranya Sasi was best known for her mini-roles in movies and daily soaps, Saranya Sasi succumbed to cancer at 35 but she will be remembered for some powerful and interesting roles

1. Chotta Mumbai

Chotta Mumbai is an action comedy in Malayalam language. The film was released on 7 April 2007. It had gathered positive reviews from critics. Saranya Sasi had played the role of Sherin who is Vasco da gama's sister in the film. The film ran for over 101 days in theatres.

2. Thalappavu

This film is a period drama film. Thalappavu literally meant turban which was a representation of power, status and protection. It also starred Marathi actor Atul Kulkarni along with Saranya Sasi in supporting roles. This also marked Madhupal’s directorial debut. The plot is reported to be based on real-life confession of a police constable.

3. Annmariya Kalippilaanu

Annmariya Kalippilaanu is a children's movie starring Sara Arjun, Sunny Wayne, and Aju Varghese. The plot is about the story of friendship of a schoolkid (Sara) and an easygoing youth (Wayne).

4. Chacko Randaaman

Sasi made her debut with the film 'Chacko Randaaman'. It is a Malayalam film directed by Sunil Karyattukara. The film stars Kalabhavan Mani, Jyotirmayi, Adithya Menon and Jagathy Sreekumar in lead roles. The film had musical score by Sundar C Babu.

Sasi underwent 11 surgeries for cancer before she died. In addition to her sickness, she was also facing a financial crisis. Saranya Sasi’s close friend, a person named Seema G Nair shared information about her deteriorating health in a YouTube video. Reportedly Sasi's medical expenses were high and for her surgeries, she needed to undertake fundraisers set up by her friends in the industry.

She was diagnosed with COVID-19 a few weeks ago and was admitted to a hospital in Trivandrum. According to reports, she had recovered from COVID-19 but caught several other health issues like pneumonia. She also reportedly had low sodium levels in her blood. Sasi eventually passed away on August 9. The actor was only 35 at the time.
