Baby Rani Maurya Wiki Bio: The veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader, on Friday, March 25, was sworn in as a Minister in Yogi Adiyanath's cabinet. The Minister served as Governor of Uttarakhand for three years before she resigned to contest in 2022 Assembly elections.

On Friday, a total of 52 leaders, including five women, were sworn in as ministers in Yogi Adityanath's Cabinet 2.0, as the BJP makes a comeback in the state. In addition to Baby Rani Maurya, Gulab Devi, Pratibha Shukla, Rajani Tiwari, and Vijay Laxmi Gautam were sworn in as ministers in Yogi Adityanath's Cabinet.

In a huge event held at Lucknow's Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Adityanath was sworn in as Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister for the second time. His cabinet consists of two deputy chief ministers, 16 cabinet ministers, and 34 Ministers of State.

Who Is She?

- Since September 2021, Baby Rani Maurya has served as one of the National Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was elected as an MLA for the first time in the Assembly Election 2022.

- Maurya, who was born in 1956, got a Bachelor of Education degree and then completed a Master's in Arts.

- In 1995, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. In the same year, she assumed the post of Agra's first female mayor and completed her term which ended in 2000.

- When Ram Nath Kovid was head of the BJP's Scheduled Caste wing in 1995, Maurya was its chief office bearer. During that time, she tried to expand the BJP's appeal in Uttar Pradesh's SC community.

- She served on the National Commission for Women from 2002 to 2005 and then as the seventh governor of Uttarakhand until resigning two years before the end of her term.

- In the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2007, the BJP's Dalit leader contested from Etmadpur constituency but lost. Post her loss, she took a break from politics.

- In 2018, the 64-year-old politician was named Governor of Uttarakhand.

- She was appointed to the State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights before being sworn in as Governor of Uttarakhand in 2018.

- Pradeep Kumar, a retired director of Punjab National Bank who still serves on the bank's advisory board, is reported to be her husband.

- According to accounts, she has worked for the empowerment of Dalit women throughout her career as a Dalit leader.
