He spoke about his tough times in Bombay, including his time on the reality series Roadies and his struggles as an actor in the film industry.

Ayushmann Khurrana started his career as an anchor before becoming well-known for winning the second season of Roadies in 2004. With Vicky Donor, he made his Bollywood debut in 2012. In a recent interview, he discussed his early life, in particular his difficult times, and recounted the moment he first arrived in Bombay to look for work.

Ayushmann Khurrana revealed his work-hunting experience in an ">interview with Siddharth Aalambayan on The Bombay Journey. When questioned about his thoughts as he travelled from Chandigarh to Bombay, Khurrana responded, "Mera bhi Shah Rukh Khan moment hua tha, ki jab mai aaya tha Mumbai naya naya maine socha tha jab tak mujhe kaam nhi milega, mai samundar ki taraf dekhungi nahi, radio ka contract haath mai aagya, 3-4 din mai."(I had my Shah Rukh Khan moment as I decided not to take a look at the see until I get a job when I first arrived in Mumbai and within 3-4 days I got a contract for a radio gig.)

Khurrana explained how his father was extremely harsh and severely beat him as a kid. "North mai jisne maa baap se thappad na khaaya ho, chappal na khaayi ho toh woh upbringing ho hi nahi sakti,"(In North India unless one has gotten a slap or thrown a shoe at by their parents, it can't be called upbringing) he added with sarcasm.

He also related a personal incident involving his father, who visited Bombay and predicted that his son would become a famous actor. Ayushmann claimed that although unaware of the incident, he afterwards worried about what would happen if he didn't wind up becoming one.

An Action Hero, Khurrana's most recent feature film, was released on December 2. The movie had a very slow start when it first opened in theatres. Anirudh Iyer, who previously served as an assistant director on Aanand L Rai's Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Zero, is the film's director. The screenplay was written by Neeraj Yadav. Alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, Jaideep Ahlawat also appears in the film.
