Asha Bhosle Lata Mangeshkar: Veteran singer Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar's younger sister, shared a throwback pic on Instagram from their childhood days. Asha Bhosle wrote, "Bachpan ke din bhi kya din the. Didi and I,". The pic shows how the two sisters can be seen posing for the camera.

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on 6 February at the age of 92. She was hospitalised in January after she tested positive for COVID-19. She also suffered from pneumonia. She was on the path to recovery but her condition deteriorated on 5 February. Since then, the singer was put under aggressive therapy and was tolerating the procedures but eventually died.

88-year-old Asha Bhosle also paid her final respects to the legendary singer at her house on 6 February, 2022 along with other members of the Hindi film fraternity, including Amitabh Bachchan and daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Anupam Kher, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Shraddha Kapoor.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted, “Lata Didi’s songs brought out a variety of emotions. She closely witnessed the transitions of the Indian film world for decades. Beyond films, she was always passionate about India’s growth. She always wanted to see a strong and developed India”. He was present at the singer's last rites at Shivaji Stadium in Mumbai.

Lata Mangeshkar was 13 when she lost her father. She began singing to support her family as she was eldest of the four siblings. In Bollywood, Lata Mangeshkar got her first major break with the song Dil Mera Toda from the 1948 film Majboor. Aiye Mere Watan Ke Logon was her song that moved every Indian with its most powerful lyrics. It was a tribute to those who were martyred and sacrificed for the country.

Besides Hindi, she sang in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and other regional languages also. Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award were some of the prestigious awards she was conferred with.
