Ankita Lokhande in Iti: Television actor Ankita Lokhande has reportedly signed her first big Bollywood film as the lead actor after playing supporting roles in films like Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Baaghi 3. Backed by Vivek Oberoi and directed by Vishal Ranjan Mishra, Lokhande will play the lead character in a murder mystery titled Iti. More detail on the film are awaited.

Filmmaker Prenaa Arora had announced the project last year, however, the final cast for the film wasn't disclosed then. "The film is about a girl who has to solve her own murder. When the makers were scouting for a good performer, they spoke to Ankita who also loved the role," a source close to the makers of the film revealed. According to Box Office Worldwide, Lokhande has already agreed to be part of the film and the shooting is expected to begin this month in Shimla, although the COVID-19 second wave may have now delayed the plans.

Last year, while sharing the film's teaser poster Oberoi took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Excited to announce our 1st film- #Iti Produced by @mandiraa_ent & my home production Oberoi Mega Ent. A high concept thriller directed by the talented @mishravishal. To go on floors by Oct’20Crossed fingers#PrernaVArora Heartfelt Thank You to each one of you for all your love & support (sic).” Its tagline as shown in the tweet is: ‘Can you solve your own murder?’

Last month, Lokhande was brutally trolled for opening up about her breakup with Sushant Singh Rajput. In an interview, the Pavitra Rishta actor claimed how Rajput “chose his career” over the relationship and how she gave up many major Bollywood films for the sake of him. She also alleged that she rejected Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani because she wanted to get married to him. Lokhande had also opened up about her experience with casting couch in the industry. Read more on that here.

Lokhande also added that she struggled to move on after her breakup with Rajput. She and Rajput had a six-year-long relationship that ended in 2016. He died by suicide last year in June.
