Amitabh Bachchan Shares Unseen Wedding Photo With Jaya Bachchan For Their 48th Anniversary

The two stars were introduced on the sets of 1971 film Guddi and got married two years later.

Amitabh Jaya Bachchan wedding photo: On June 3, Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan celebrates his wedding anniversary with his wife and politician Jaya Bachchan. Sharing unseen pictures from their low-key wedding which took place  in 1973, Amitabh Bachchan took to social media to thank fans for their wishes.

The Pink actor in his blog wrote, "Thank you all with immense gratitude for the wishes for Jaya and me on our Wedding Anniversary .. June 3, 1973.. now 48 years!! Your wishes and your gracious words have been most moving and filled with love for us .. and we truly appreciate them .. For today and now." This year, the legendary couple in Hindi film industry has completed 48 years of marriage.

The two stars were introduced on the sets of 1971 film Guddi in which Amitabh Bachchan had reportedly cast as lead. However, Bachchan's role was later played by Samit Bhanja. The first film in which Amitabh and Jaya (then Bhaduri) appeared together was 1972 film Bansi Birju. The two tied the knot and left for London on June 3, 1973. It was a low-key affair with a few friends and family as guests. Soon the couple was blessed with two children - daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda and son Abhishek Bachchan. 77-year-old Amitabh Bachchan was admitted to Nanavati hospital along with son Abhishek after testing positive for COVID-19 on July 11 last year. His test came out negative on August 2. Abhishek, his wife and actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, 46, and their eight-year-old daughter Aaradhya too were discharged from the hospital on July 27 after testing negative for COVID-19. Jaya Bachchan, however, never contracted the virus.

Together, the couple has worked in several films which turned out to be blockbuster - namely Zanjeer, Abhimaan, Mili, Chupke Chupke, Sholay, Silsila and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Read how Sharmila Tagore reacted when she rewatched Chupke Chupke recently here.
