Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turns 49 and Bollywood is waiting for one of its most stunning and skilled actors to get back on the screen. Bachchan's latest was the pan-Indian hit, Ponniyin Selvan I this year where the audiences saw the actor for the first time on screen after six years. She has done some great roles in the iconic movies of Bollywood.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan entered the world of entertainment following her historic win at the 1994 Miss World pageant. Bachchan played some very interesting characters in her day with the leading stars of Bollywood and made a place for herself that can never be replaced or forgotten by the Indian audience.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999)

The film starred Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and it is considered one of the classics of Sanjay Leela Bansali. Bachchan played the wife of Devgn's character who was in love with Khan and how in a twist of events, Devgn tries to reunite the lovers. I was a romantic musical that had some of the most memorable hit songs and etched a place in the hearts of Bollywood fanatics.

Devdas (2002)

The adaptation from the Bengali novel of the same name, Devdas, Sanjay Leela Bansali created magic on screen with the actors, Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In the character of Paro, Bachchan had done one of her best performances. This movie is known to be one of the best films of 2000 and won several accolades.

Chokher Bali (2003)

Another novel adaptation and the direction of Rituparno Ghosh, Chokher Bali showed Bachchan's ability to emote on screen and make people believe in the character as a real person. Her character Binodini whose life was truly unfair becomes a life-like person to the audience who roots for her and sympathises throughout the film. This film was made in Bengali and starred other Bengali actors along with Bachchan.

Dhoom 2 (2006)

The role of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Dhoom 2 as Sunheri might not have been very layered but it showed a very different side of her as an actor. It is an action film which Bachchan had done for the first time and she still made a name for herself as the films did really great at the box office.

Guru is one of the most iconic films in Bollywood with a classic album and a real-life story based on Dhirubhai Ambani. The role of Sujata Desai established Bachchan's career as a skilful actor and dancer. The film's album had some classic songs that still sounds fresh and could be played on a loop.

Raavan (2010)

A modern adaptation of Ramayan by Mani Ratnam featured Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead and both of them had served some of the best performances. The film was very different from what Bachchan had done in her career for so long. It made the audience realise the depth of her craftsmanship.

Guzaarish (2010)

Sanjay Leela Bansali's Guzaarish was a film way ahead of its time. The story of a famous magician who is now a quadriplegic Ethan, played by Hrithik Roshan and his caretaker Sofia played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had made a place in the hearts of anyone who watched the film. It is one of those films in which an actor craves to play a role to improve and learn their skills. Sofia had welcomed everyone to her life which might be extremely depressing but still had magic in it.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan came back on screen after a short break to do a brief role of Saba in the film. But the length of her screen time didn't matter as people awaited to see her back and play against Ranbir Kapoor as a love interest. Bachchan did end up leaving the audience in awe with her performance.
