Actor Taapsee Pannu recently won the Best female actor honour at the 66th Filmfare Awards for her performance in the popular movie Thappad. As Pannu received her award, she praised all her fellow nominees. They were Deepika Padukone (Chhapak), Jahnvi Kapoor (Gunjan Saxena), Vidya Balan (Shakuntala Devi) and Kangana Ranaut (Panga). She thanked Kangana saying, "Thank you so much Kangana for pushing the boundaries. The benchmark of your performances just keeps going higher every year."

A fan of Kangana Ranaut took to Twitter to share the clip of actor Taapsee Pannu giving her speech and captioned it as "We know deep down sasti is #KanganaRanaut fan." Kangana was quick to reply to this tweet. She wrote, "Thank you @taapsee well deserved Vimal elaichi filmfare award...no one deserves it more than you."

Ranaut often displays her anguish towards her colleagues from the Hindi film industry through her tweets. There's has also been a long list of face-offs between Taapsee and Kangana ever since Rangoli Chandel tagged the former as 'sasti copy' of Kangana. A veiled dig can be sensed in Ranaut's comment as Indian award shows have always been infamous or being partial.

Kangana recently received her fourth National award as the best female actor for the movies Panga and Manikarnika.

Kangana Ranaut will be seen in the political biopic Thalaivi, the life story of Jayalalithaa, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. It is directed by AL Vijay. Taapsee Pannu on the other hand is all set for her movies Shabaash Mithu and Rashmi Rocket to release. The former is the biopic of the Indian cricketer Mithali Raj and the latter is the story of an athlete.
