Actor Surekha Sikri Dies From Cardiac Arrest: 10 Things To Know

Surekha Sikri death: Badhaai Ho actor Surekha Sikri breathed her last today, on July 16, in Mumbai. She passed away at the age of 75 from a cardiac arrest. Her manager has confirmed the news in a statement shared with the media and said that she had been suffering from complications arising from a brain stroke that she suffered last year.

Here are ten things to know about Surekha Sikri death:

1. The three-time National Award winning actor suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this morning.

2. She was not in the best of her health for some time now, her manager told Indian Express.

3. She had to be rushed to a hospital after suffering a brain stroke last year.

4. She also suffered a paralytic stroke earlier in 2018.

5. Sikri was surrounded by family and her caregivers when breathed her last.

6. Her family has asked for privacy at this time, said the late actor's manager.

7. Born to an Air Force officer father and teacher mother, Sikri went to graduate from National School of Drama.

8. She was last year honoured with the Best Supporting Actress National Award for  in 2018. Previously, Sikri also received the National Film Award in the same category for her films Tamas (1988) and Mammo (1995).

9. She made her debut in 1978 with political drama film Kissa Kursi Ka and played various roles across films in various industries. Some of her noted recent performences include films like Zubeidaa, Mr and Mrs Iyer and Raincoat.

10. Sikri was also known for her work on television, having worked in shows like Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani, Balika Vadhu, Banegi Apni Baat, Just Mohabbat, Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil, Maa Exchange and Saat Phere.
