Aarya Walvekar is an 18-year-old Indian American teenager from Virginia who has been crowned Miss India USA 2022 at the annual beauty pageant held in New Jersey.
Arya took her Instagram account and shared about her achievements. The post was captioned, "The feelings I’m experiencing are indescribable. I have never been filled with this much gratitude in my life. It is my pleasure to announce that I, Aarya Abhijit Walvekar, am your newly crowned Miss India USA 2022."
She also said, "This weekend I had the honor of representing our nation's capital, Washington DC at the national Miss India USA pageant. Filled with nervousness and excitement, I entered this weekend with no idea what to expect. However, I left this weekend with a national crown, a precious pageant sisterhood, and tons of gratitude in my heart."
"I understand that this title is not just a crown, it is a duty, a responsibility. I plan on taking advantage of this amazing platform to spread love, positivity, and awareness. I hope you all send me your support, blessings, and love as I start my journey and take on my duties as your miss India USA 2022," she added.
Who is Aarya Walvekar Miss India USA 2022?
Aarya Walvekar is a senior at Briar Woods High School in Virginia. TEDx Youth Briar Woods describes Aarya as an advocate for Mental Health and Body Positivity Health at Every Size Movement.
She has been a TEDx speaker. During the event, she ">spoke on the topic, "Rethinking 'Healthy'". Aarya enjoys doing yoga, cooking for friends and family, and spending time with her younger sister in her spare time. Her interests also include theatre, film, and TV. She is also the founder of Euphoria Dance Studio, which offers affordable dance lessons to local children.

PTI reports that Miss India USA is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year - the longest-running Indian pageant outside of India. Under the banner of Worldwide Pageants, it was founded in New York by Dharmatma and Neelam Saran.
There were also contestants representing 30 US states competing in three different pageants - Miss India USA, Mrs India USA, and Miss Teen India USA. The first and second runners-up were Saumya Sharma and Sanjana Chekuru. Tanvi Grover was crowned Miss Teen India USA, while Akshi Jain was crowned Mrs India USA.
