Sarita Mor Wins Gold Medal At Asian Wrestling Championship, Two Others Bag Bronze

Sarita Mor won gold for the country in the wrestling championship of Asia while the other two wrestlers bagged bronze in their categories.

Indian Wrestlers Sarita Mor, Seema Bisla, and Pooja bagged three medals for the country in the Asian Wrestling Championship 2021. Sarita Mor defeated Mongolia’s Shoovdor Baatarjav by a score of 10-7. This is the second time she won gold in the Asian Wrestling Championship after her win in 2020. She played in the same category as before of 59 kgs.

With this win, Sarita became the first Indian woman wrestler to win Gold twice in the Asian Wrestling Championship.

Seema Bisla participated in the 50 kgs category of the Asian Wrestling Championship. In her semifinal match against Jasmina Immaeva of Uzbekistan, Seema Bisla faced defeat. She was defeated by a close score of 2-3. Further, Seema Bisla in her next match with Yung Hsun Lin of Taiwan made an unbelievable comeback and bagged the bronze medal by defeating her opponent. She won the match by technical superiority over Yung Hsun Lin by a great score of 10-0.

Participating in the 76 kgs category, Pooja defeated South Korea’s Seoyeon Jeong. She took the lead of 5-2 over the opponent and bagged bronze. Pooja was defeated by Kazakhstan’s Elmira Syzdykova in her semifinal match.

Nisha who has participated in the 68 kgs category of the Asian Wrestling Championship 2021, failed in both her bouts at the group stage. She became the only wrestler to not achieve a podium finish in the championship.

In the Asian Wrestling Championship 2020, Sarita (59Kg) stood strong against Mongolian opponent Battseteg Atlantsetseg and won the battle 3-2 to emerge victoriously and walk away with India’s third gold medal of the day.

Indian Greco Roman wrestlers couldn’t bag a single podium finish in their respective categories in the first two days of the Asian Wrestling Championship 2021 and had disappointed with their performances.
