"That was actually kind of funny when I got past my frustration," said Osaka, who won the first Grand Slam title of 2021 last month when she beat USA's Jennifer Brady in the Australian Open final. "The sun was like on top of a cloud, and it gave off this really weird glare effect. It was kind of my fault for being stubborn and not trying to catch my toss and wait it out," the 23-year-old tennis star added.

Naomi Osaka Miami Open:

Now, Osaka will face off Serbian player Nina Stojanovic in the 3rd round.

Osaka hasn't lost a match in more than a year, and her winning streak includes her fourth Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in February, which was her second title for the said tournament. She became the US Open champion in the previous year. Osaka had won her first and second Grand Slam title in the same style in 2018 and 2019.

Osaka now has two US Open titles (2018, 2020) and two Australian Open trophies (2019, 2021). The Japanese national has won a total of six titles in her career

She was the first Asian player to hold the top ranking in singles. At the US Open in 2020, she arrived for each of her matches wearing a face mask with the name of different American citizens who reportedly died due to racial injustice. She held the title of the Highest-Paid Female Athlete by Forbes last year. Off the court, she has been protesting against racial injustice and the death of Breonna Taylor, an African-American who was shot dead by cops last year in March, and also the death of George Floyd. She was also adjudged Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year.

Meanwhile, Osaka has withdrawn from next month’s WTA clay-court tournament in Stuttgart.
