Roy will be available for playing 3 ODIs, a one-off Test match, and several T20s throughout the tour, talked to Sportstar in an interview and revealed how MS Dhoni is her idol.

Roy talked about how the former Indian Men's Cricket Team captain MS Dhoni helped her improve her game, especially her wicketkeeping skills.

Mentioning her conversation with Dhoni at a cricket training session in 2020, Roy said that she took tips from the former skipper regarding her wicketkeeping skills. In a long conversation with Dhoni, the wicketkeeper learned some key points from him and said that they helped her.

In the interview, Roy shared that Dhoni suggested she improve her reflexes in the five-metre radius which is an important point for wicketkeepers. Roy said that she tried to remember the points that Dhoni had suggested to her and tried to apply them whenever she was on the field.

She also called herself privileged for learning some tips of wicketkeeping from MS Dhoni and said that it actually helped her improve her game.

Roy will be sharing the dressing room with the senior players in the England tour, thanks to her hard work for her position in the team. As it is her first international tour with the team, Roy said that she would try to do her best if given a chance in the final 11.

Who is Indrani Roy?

Indrani Roy, the 23-year-old cricket player, plays for Jharkhand women's team in domestic cricket tournaments. She has scored a total of 456 runs, with an average of 76, which included two unbeaten centuries, in the Senior One Day Trophy 2020-21. Roy became the leading scorer and the only person to score above 400 runs in the entire year.
