The Struggles of Being Boxed as a TV Actor

Dogra reflected on the stigma attached to television actors in the film industry. Despite her talent and experience, she revealed how she and her peers were often stereotyped. “We all had to face that tag and box of being a TV actor,” she said, emphasising her decision to not expend energy defending herself.

Even when told, "They didn’t take you for this project because you’re a TV actor," Dogra chose to focus on moving forward rather than engaging with such bias.

Her philosophy is simple: “I’m not wasting my energy even for one minute to understand or defend it. I’m moving on.”

Breaking Out of Society’s Boxes

Dogra acknowledged that societal pressures often try to confine individuals to predefined roles.

She explained how she continually challenges those expectations, saying, People put you in so many boxes without even trying to get to know you. You’re constantly trying to say, ‘I’m just me, get to know me.’

Navigating Challenges with Focus and Determination

Dogra’s approach to overcoming these challenges is rooted in her commitment to her vision. She noted that pursuing one’s dreams requires prioritizing one’s goals over societal judgments. “If you have a dream and a vision for yourself, you just follow that vision. You’re not really breaking anything; you’re just creating your own way,” she said.

This clarity of purpose helped her persevere through the obstacles she faced. For Dogra, it wasn’t about fighting the system but about thriving on her own terms: “It’s not about getting out of my way; it’s about letting me make my way.”

Empowering Others Through Her Story

By sharing her experiences, she offers a valuable perspective for aspiring actors and individuals across industries. Her ability to rise above stereotypes and focus on her craft is an inspiring reminder that success often comes from within.
