Life is a journey, no less than a rollercoaster. With success come setbacks. Often, we, as individuals, fail to realize the importance of our emotional needs. As humans, vulnerability often leads to self-doubt and a lack of self-trust.

Therapy helps you understand who you are, inside and out. In the latest episode of The Rulebreaker Show, hosted by Shaili Chopra, founder of SheThePeople and Gytree, Kubbra Sait opened up about her own journey of self-discovery after undergoing years of therapy. She spoke about being bullied for her name, her hair, and the colour of her eyes, which she now sees as her strengths.

"It took a long years of therapy to understand who you are and why you are the way you are. And I think that's the gift that everyone should give themselves."

Kubbra also opened up about the importance of physical fitness and maintaining a healthy diet, which also helped her to have a strong presence of mind and stay active.

The Journey Of Self-Reflection

As women, we are often asked to mould ourselves to the standards set by society. From pursuing traditional educational paths to dressing in socially approved ways, we are frequently generalised. Even a slight difference can provoke harsh criticism and judgement, without any consideration of how it might affect us. Since it's not always possible to stop people from commenting, embracing our individuality fully remains the most vital step toward peace of mind.

Therapy isn’t just about dealing with trauma—it’s also about building a positive approach to life. At times, we may silently suffer from not being “perfect”. But what does being perfect even mean? Is it having flawless features, a perfect work-life balance, or being surrounded by good friends? In the pursuit of perfection, we often lose sight of our individuality. Therapy, as a whole, helps us see ourselves beyond the societal labels we've been given.

Learning to set boundaries, validate your own emotions, and prioritise mental health is liberating. It’s a journey that begins with vulnerability but ends in strength. When we understand that we are not defined by others’ perceptions, we reclaim the narrative of our lives. Self-acceptance becomes our rebellion—and our healing.

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do.”
