I used to study in a Government-run boarding school. I was in 8th grade when I heard the news of the death of one of my junior's parents in a road accident. "That's terrible!", I remember saying this to myself. I got very emotional about the whole episode because I had been living away from my parents and knew how much parents' absence could hurt. I wanted to speak to him but the school authorities didn't allow students of the opposite gender to interact with each other.

I was in college when I connected with Yogesh through a Facebook group meant for school alumni. I chatted with him for three weeks and found out that he was the same junior who had lost his parents. We started opening up to each other which started our friendship. Both of us were struggling in careers that we didn't choose for ourselves in the first place. We both were fond of travelling which was another bonding factor that brought us close. I was floored by his intelligence, charm and the way he rebuilt himself after his parents' death. We stayed friends for a few months and started dating after he proposed me.

After being in a long-distance relationship for almost a decade, we decided to get married. My parents were not ready initially. They wanted their jamaai to be a doctor like me. We belonged to different castes and that was another issue but I was resolute and they had to give in.

We tied the knot last year in April and it has all been blissful since then. There are no gender stereotypes in our marriage. We travel, cook, and clean together. He is very supportive of all my decisions. For us, every day is a new adventure that we enjoy together. We have adopted a very sweet cat Raven who keeps us on our toes. I know life is difficult and therefore are ups and downs, but everything seems easy with the right person.
