In today's rapidly evolving world, the pursuit of academic excellence is often prioritised in the education of young minds. While a strong academic foundation is crucial, there is another, often overlooked aspect of education that holds equal significance: the nurturing of artistic expression and soft skills in our students.

As the founder of the Children's Art Museum of India, I believe that instilling art and values in our youth is a pressing need

Art, in its myriad forms, is not merely a subject but a way of life—a channel through which we can tap into the deepest wellsprings of human creativity. The intrinsic link between art and personal development is undeniable. It is through art that we encourage children to think critically, innovate, and express themselves freely. These skills are the very foundation of creativity and innovation, making them critical assets in the modern world.

How Art Empowers Children To Think Critically And Freely

Incorporating art into a child's education is a step towards encouraging self-expression. Art serves as a platform where young learners can freely express their emotions and ideas without the fear of judgment. This environment fosters confidence and self-esteem, nurturing the innate qualities of our young students who will one day become trailblazers in their respective fields.

Furthermore, the emphasis on art and soft skills plays a significant role in promoting inclusivity. Art transcends the boundaries of language, culture, and background. It enables children to connect with diverse perspectives and appreciate the beauty of differences. By engaging in art and valuing diversity, children not only learn to embrace the uniqueness of their peers but also develop the empathy and emotional intelligence needed to foster inclusive communities.

Moreover, art encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation, all skills that are vital in the modern workplace. The ability to think creatively and adapt to change is pivotal for success in any career, making it imperative for young students to inculcate these skills from an early age.

We must understand that the future belongs to those who are not just book-smart but are also emotionally intelligent and creative thinkers. We shall be devoted to nurturing the potential of our youth, preparing them to become change-makers and leaders who will shatter glass ceilings and challenge the status quo.

As women, we often face unique challenges in our careers and in our personal lives. Art and values/soft skills can help us to overcome these challenges and to achieve our goals. Art can help us to develop our self-confidence and our resilience. When we create art, we are able to express ourselves and share our stories with the world. This can help us to feel more empowered and to overcome our fears.

In conclusion, as a society, we must recognise that the future leaders, entrepreneurs, and activists are the children of today. To prepare them for a dynamic world, we must emphasize the importance of inculcating art and values in their education.

Through the platform, I encourage all women to embrace their creativity and develop their art and values/soft skills. These skills are essential for our success and for our well-being. Together, we can empower our youth to become the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow, equipped not just with knowledge but also with the soft skills and values that will enable them to create a more inclusive and innovative world.
