Zomato Promises Job To Wife Of Zomato Delivery Executive Killed In Accident

A 36-year-old delivery executive of Zomato named Salil Tripathi was killed in a road accident last week. The founder of the food delivery company Deepinder Goyal said on Thursday that his team will help the family of Tripathi and will also give a job to his wife.

According to reports, Tripathi was waiting for a food order last week near a hospital in Delhi when an SUV driven by a Delhi police constable crashed into his bike and killed him on the spot. Tripathi had joined Zomato recently after losing his restaurant manager during the lockdown. He leaves his 10-year-old son and life behind.

The Zomato founder tweeted on Thursday that the employees have contributed 12 lakh rupees to help Tripathi's family in addition to the 10 lakh rupees as insurance cover. Goyal's note read, "After the family is past grieving, we will make every effort to provide a job to Salil’s wife Sucheta (depending on whether she wants it), so that she can run her household and support her 10-year-old son’s education going forward."

The officials of Zomato said that they have been in touch with the family since the accident and offer them every possible help. In a tweet, Deepinder Goyal wrote, "We are deeply aggrieved by the death of our delivery partner Salil Tripathi in an unfortunate road incident. We are extending all possible support to help the family get through this." As per reports, Tripathi's family has received help from people all across the country.

Many people have donated money for Tripathi's wife Sucheta and her son. Reportedly, Tripathi's cousin Rahul said that they have received eight lakh rupees in donations so far. He said, “We are overwhelmed and grateful for the response. We demand justice for bhaiya now. I want the constable to be punished for what he did. We also want a job for Sucheta. She has to take care of her son and mother-in-law."

According to reports, the Delhi Police has booked Constable Zile Singh for rash driving and causing death of a person. Singh's blood has also been sent to the Forensic Science Lab to test for alcohol. Many locals present at the site of the accident claimed that the Constable was driving while he was drunk. The reports are awaited by the officials.
