Yashaswini Singh Deswal And Manu Bhaker Win Gold And Silver Medals At ISSF World Cup

India's Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Manu Bhaker won the gold and silver medals respectively in the ISSF World Cup women's 10m Air Pistol Event.

Yashaswini Singh Deswal: The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup, the women’s 10m Air Pistol event took place on March 20 at Dr Karni Singh Shooting range.

In this event, India’s Yashaswini Singh Deswal won the gold medal. Deswal won the gold with a score of 238.8 and the silver medalist Manu Bhaker with a score of 236.7 is also from India.

The bronze medal was won by Viktoria Chaika of Belarus with the score of 215.9. Shri Nivetha is another finalist from India who scored 193.5 which placed her fourth in the competition. Deswal’s win marks the first time a gold medal for India was won in the competition.

The 23-year-old Deswal had also topped the qualifiers with the score of 579. Her sequence of scores was 99 96 97 97 98 92. The 19-year-old Bhaker snatched the second place in the qualifiers with the score of 577. Nivetha scored 574 and was placed fourth in the qualifiers.

The men’s 10m Air Rifle event also took place on March 20. In the Air Rifle event, Divyansh Singh Panwar from India won the bronze medal with a score of 228.1. India’s Arjun Babuta was placed fifth in the competition. Lucas Kozeniesky from USA and Istvan Peni from Hungaria won the gold and silver medal respectively.

Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Manu Bhaker are Tokyo Olympics quota holders.
